Our Mission

Northwest Escambia Youth Football and Cheer (NWE) is a non-profit organization that provides organized youth football and cheerleading for the entire North Escambia County, FL, area.

Our Mission is to:

Provide youth with organized competition in a safe environment
Bring our youth closer together through common interest in sportsmanship and competition
Acquaint the players with the fundamentals of Football and Cheerleading
Teach sportsmanship, discipline, and love of Football and Cheerleading
Encourage the participants to maintain satisfactory grades in school
Emphasize the importance of maintaining a balance between scholastic and athletic endeavors
Instill community pride and unity

History

NWE Football & Cheer was founded in 2002. When founded NWE began as NWE EAGLES and competed in the Emerald Coast Youth Sports Alliance. In 2013 NWE left the Emerald Coast Youth Sports Alliance and helped form the Escambia River Conference. The Escambia River Conference (ERC Football) was developed as a rural youth football league, designed for smaller communities with the objective of forming a more competitively balanced league. Initial ERC Football League member parks included Jay, Flomaton, Baker (FL), Neal, Uriah, Excel, Poarch, & NWE. Since then ERC Football has added two more parks Brewton & Straughn. In 2014, as a show of support for Northview High School and in an attempt to unify the local communities, NWE Football & Cheer changed uniform colors and mascot to match the NORHTVIEW CHIEFS becoming the NWE CHIEFS!

NWE Football & Cheer has grown lengths and bounds since 2013. In 2021 NWE experienced the highest number of participants ever with 303 total youth participants and seven teams across four age groups.
